Marks Story - Making Sure You Know All Your Options

The prognosis wasn’t good. Diagnosed with a degenerative disease whose progress could only be slowed by debilitating surgery on both feet, 39-year old Mark spent hours searching the Internet trying to discover if there were any less invasive options available. But to no avail, until his research led him to the Health Advocacy Solutions website.

Hopeful that HAS might be able to uncover treatment options he’d missed, Mark contacted HAS and asked them to research his condition. What HAS discovered was that there were two much less invasive procedures to treat Mark’s condition that had been used successfully in Europe. HAS was also able to identify several top specialists in Mark’s part of the country, and to coach him how to discuss these “alternative treatments” with those physicians.

Thanks to HAS, Mark was able to find a specialist in his area who was willing to try one of the less invasive approaches, and the treatment was a success! As a result, Mark has gained 5-10 more years of mobility in his feet without having to endure the painful—and frequently ineffective—surgeries he had been told were his only choice.

“You can’t make an informed choice if you don’t know all the options,” observed Mark, “But most doctors don’t have time to do research, and there’s a limit to what you can find on your own. So I tell everyone, before you consent to a serious, painful medical procedure, check with HAS and make sure it’s the best way to go. You may be surprised by what your doctor doesn’t know.”
