Our Services for Patients and Families

We help our clients make informed medical choices, manage their cases, and overcome insurance obstacles to get the best care possible.

Making Informed Choices

  • Assistance researching, locating, and working with providers who can best meet your needs or those of a loved one
  • Comprehensive research and guidance to help you make fully informed treatment decisions
  • Help investigating alternative, complementary, and experimental therapies, including clinical trials
  • Location of additional support in your community and online

We provide one-on-one navigation and advocacy support to help you make informed choices and receive the very best care possible.  We begin by reviewing your unique case, concerns, care team, and preferences. Then, drawing on multiple research databases and our expert network, we analyze and summarize current options and evidence in plain English to help you make informed decisions each step of the way.  We have worked with patients and families grappling with cancer (including pancreatic, lung, breast, blood, brain, and prostate), neurological disorders, stroke, congenital birth defects, eye diseases, and other challenging conditions.

Managing Care

  • Customized referrals to meet specific care and support needs
  • Care coordination for complex cases
  • Problem-solving when difficulties arise with providers

Our care management help is customized to meet the unique needs of each client and his or her family. Services range from short-term help finding and evaluating care facilities (including long-term care, assisted care, and intermediate care), to personalized assistance finding qualified local care managers, to full care coordination (including compiling medical and insurance records, arranging appointments, and finding referrals). We can also help you resolve conflicts with hospitals, physicians, or other providers.

Choosing Insurance Plans and Solving Problems

Our one-on-one insurance navigation services are designed to take the time and guess-work out of dealing with health insurance. Because we are independent advocates and not brokers, we do not represent or receive compensation from insurance companies. Instead, we offer independent, personalized research and guidance to help you find insurance plans that are the best match for your current and future health-care needs and preferences. We also provide advocacy and problem-solving support for your current coverage, incuding appeals for claim and coverage denials.
